Best Tint For Car – Dubai: The revised federal traffic law allowing darker car window shades will help some riders stay cool this summer.
With mercury in car climbing, darker window tinting will help to overcome the heat, said the workshop manager and car owner.
Since the introduction of the revised federal traffic law on July 1, 2017, car owners were allowed to color all windows by up to 50 percent, except for windshields. Previously, the maximum permissible coloring was only 30 percent.
The new rules do not include trucks and taxis.
Fines for tinting beyond the specified 50 percent begin at Dh1,000 and rates vary across different emirates but they surely rise according to the percentage of excess of the color.
Car tinting these days is less of a job and more of an art.
The different tints, prices, objectives and their comparative advantages and disadvantages are important considerations for consumers.
Poonam C., a resident of Dubai who recently received new ceramic colors in his SUV, told Gulf News that he is very happy that he went ahead with the decision. “It costs Dh380, but my car definitely feels cooler. I did not have to wear cooling gloves to hold the steering wheel when I returned to the car parked in the afternoon. The air-conditioning also seems to work more efficiently. However, I must be extra vigilant at night when darker shades reduce visibility a bit. I was careful to lower the window to get a better view when I moved the car on the parking lot or turned around at night. But I would definitely recommend the residents to continue and get tinting done. ”
What is tinting?
Anil Chacko, Business Development Manager for the Fantastic Auto Repair Service, Sharjah, explains: “Car colors are made of Polyethelene Terepthalate (PET), thermoplastic polymer resins that absorb heat, provide thermal insulation, and filter out harmful ultraviolet rays. In this region where summer temperatures are close to 50 degrees Celsius, it is important to dye your car. Coloration not only provides privacy but can help prevent skin cancer and excessive sun and heat exposure that can cause skin cancer and tanning, among other things. ”
He added that when the mercury spikes, he gets an average of three tinting orders per day.
How to make sure you have the right colors?
Poor quality films can not only blur the vision, but it can also damage the window when it is released, says Maksim Odnorozhenko, managing director at Tint n Sun, Dubai and a veteran in car coloring, stressing that it is important to choose the right quality. dye materials.
“Poor coloring materials can interfere with car navigation, liquefaction and irrigation systems and may also interfere with radio signals, causing interference in your phone conversations in your car. In addition, cheaper materials tend to bulge in a matter of months or change color, reduce visibility and create broken glass surfaces. ”
Odnorozhenko added: “A good professional color can be worth between Dh300 and Dh1,200 depending on the size of your car, and an average life of up to five years. The best quality comes with a lifetime guarantee. ”
He warned against a fake workshop that picked Dh3.000 up to Dh4,000 for tinting SUVs.
Featuring the categories of tinting films available, Odnorozhenko says the three main types are metals, ceramics and ordinary carbon nano fibers. Ceramic tints which are a top-end option are among the best available. They are made of ceramic nano fibers and allow better UV absorption and cooling.
“The main work of high-quality film is to block 99 percent of ultraviolet light, and it helps in heat reduction and great glare and it should not fade, whatever type you decide to use.Anything lower than that should be rejected raw- This is not about using a famous brand of tinting material One can use an affordable quality but make sure the material used is professional class and the person doing the tinting knows his work. “Odnorozhenko explained.
How is tinting done?
1. Once the film is selected, the sheets are cut and heat-shrunk to fit the contour of the window.
2. Mechanical tinting cleans the surface of the car’s glass to ensure that no dirt is trapped between the film and the glass surface as it may affect visibility.
3. Masking tape is applied to the edge of the glass to close the window.
4. The pre-cut, hot-shrink film is placed on the window from the inside.
5. The professional mechanic uses baby shampoo and water on the glass surface to absorb it. Other chemicals such as detergents or harder shampoos can trap hazardous chemicals.
6. The film adhesive layer is placed on this wet surface and pressure is applied. This process is repeated until the entire surface is closed.
Usually, on a sunny day, the car is ready to be moved after coloring within two hours. On a damp or colder day it may take between one to three days for the film to dry completely.
How to manage heat buildup in your car
When parking your car, roll your window down an inch to allow free air circulation
Use the windscreen thermal insulation cover to reflect sunlight
When returning to the car, roll down the window completely, turn on the engine, but do not turn on the air conditioner. This is important because the heat inside reacts with the chemical layer on certain things on the dash, so it is very important that the wind blows out all the smoke that may have formed.
After the car runs for several minutes with the window open, turn on the air conditioner
Use a good quality window dye to keep the car’s interior cool and also to protect you from ultraviolet light
